This largely has to do with the slightly heftier price tag typically associated with them.

For example, Lindemans Kriek Lambic. This black cherry Lambic (which pours with pinkish head) carries an $11 price tag for a 750ml bottle; not something I can afford with any kind of regularity. But I decided to get myself some as a Thanksgiving treat.

So what is it like? As you can expect from a Lambic, it has that certain sour flavor you expect. The use of hops in Lambics doesn’t bitter much, so there is a real sweetness from the cherry, that isn’t spoiled by bittering (something I never thought I would say).

Its sweet, somewhat sour (especially when slightly warmed in your mouth), but there’s still a slight barley and wheat character hiding in the back. The light mouthfeel goes well with the fruity sweetness.

I’m not that well-versed in the style, so I don’t know what more I can say, except that it is delicious. Its tough to talk about it more. I would love to have it again. I also intend to try some of Lindemans other Lambics.
