Unibroue “La Fin Du Monde”
Hello beer and comic lovers. My name is Drew. I'm new around here so I figured I would introduce myself. I've been friends with Brian for quite some times and when I started my own blog (glasscitybrewreview.wordpress.com) he invited me to contribute over here. So you may be seeing a few posts here and there from me. Enjoy my reviews.
This is the first of four unibroue brews that Santa happened to bring in my stocking. The others being "Trois Pistoles" "Ephemere" and "Maudite." Look for those reviews soon.
The Basics:
"La Fin Du Monde" (french for "The End of The World") is Unibroue's oh so amazing 9% belgian style tripel which I've had a few times before.
Appearance:
Pours a beautiful golden honey color with a white head that fades faaaaasst.
Nose:
Delicious smelling citrusy fruit tones with a spicy malt. Really makes you want to take that first sip.
Mouth:
Exceptionally smooth, perfect amount of carbonation, with a great bready yeast flavor. None too malty but a pleasant sweetness makes up for it. It has just the right amount of alcohol flavor which gives it exceptional balance.
Drinkabiliy:
Like I mentioned, this beer is SMOOOOTH. Drinks very light and enjoyable. Every sip makes you want to take another... and another and another and another.
Everything Else:
This just may be my favorite tripel of all time. There is not a damn thing I can say bad about it. If you're looking for a nice sweet, drinkable brew, this is a good place to start. And if you're not a "craft beer" extraordinaire this would be a great beer to try first. I can't see many people turning this beer away.
Overall: 9.5/10
