Unibroue, Canada’s brewing gem
A quick trip to the grocery store rarely yields the purchase of a fine ale, but in some instances you come upon an old favorite and make the impulse buy. That’s what happened to me today. I came upon Unibroue‘s La Fin du Monde. Unibroue is located in Chambly, Quebec, Canada. Unibroue is also my favorite maker of Belgian Style Ales in North America. Everything they do is consistently wonderful.
La Fin du Monde is no exception. I would be quite happy to take this fine beer to the end of the earth with me. It’s a really solid tripel, clocking in at around 9% ABV. Pour’s a beautifully hazy, golden color, with a thick, foamy white head. It smells characteristically belgian, with the slightly funky, sweet estery notes you expect. The taste is mellow, with the sweet fruity properties those esters give the beer. It’s an incredibly solid representation of what a tripel should be. A true benchmark beer. 8.5/10

I like the White Stripes theme in the background.
Oh yeah, that’s good beer, too. So is Maudite.
