Olde School Education

Dogfish Head Olde School Barley Wine has officially gotten me almost drunk. 1 bottle. I’m nearly ashamed. But then I noticed the 15% ABV and remembered I haven’t had dinner yet. I must say that just below room temp is the best drinking temperature for this ale. The cold too easily distorts this beer. It’s a nice clear golden brown right now. The chill haze will vanish to tell you when it’s the right time to drink. No real hoppiness, but a wonderful clover honey. Tons of that stuff is in here. I paid $4.29 for a 12oz bottle of this and was at first dissappointed. But the wine warmed the and flavors came out. This has definitely won me over. I’ve had meads that do not leave a honey signature like this one. I would suggest eating dinner before drinking this one. No need to pair with food, but I do want pancakes for some reason…

9/10

I’ts a little expensive, but a fantastic ale!
