I’m going to be honest, I really, really wanted to like Superman Returns. Earlier this week, I caught a story about Tim Burton’s concept art for Superman Lives and it made me briefly consider the possibility of him jumpstarting the franchise in his signature style. Then I remembered Planet of the Apes and what happened to the superhero franchise that he rebooted…
But it’s not like Bryan Singer did much with his version anyway. All I got for my money was a movie with no story, a lead actor who seemed uncomfortable in the role and some self indulgent IMAX sequences. And Cyclops. And the knowledge that Brett Ratner was now helming X-Men, Singer’s franchise. Anyway, go check out the gallery. Maybe someone will use that in the next Superman movie.
